What is the best reasonably priced all terrain tyre?

i spend 50% on road and 50% off road. whats the best tyre thats not too expensive?
it depends on your motor, some are better than others off road i paid £30.000 for a nissan pathfinder and got stuck in a flat wet field and got towed out by a £500 land rover that thought it was still on tarmac! iv since changed the tyres from the crap ones that it was sold with(by the manufacturers) and its now like a ruddy billygoat it will go anywhere.i launch and retrieve a 2ton boat in wet sand and the car gets hammerd everytime its driven it sits at 90 regularly (not wi boat behind mind!) the tyres i bought were general grabber 50-50 £112 each fitted and ballanced not the cheapest in town but road noise isnt even there and they really do grip.on the down side they cover your motor with crap that theyve picked up whenever you leave mud and hit tarmac. conntact nlg(wholesale)uk leeming bar 01677 426777 they will advise you on what will suit your motor PS done 21000 miles on them and they still look ALMOST new.

I would not recommend you cheap out on All-terrain tires for your SUV or Truck. As, the cheaper the tire the more likely it will cost you down the road with poor wear a tire that will not perform to your standards (Side wall damage, flat tires) and may leave you stuck in bog or mud hole.
I would seriously look at:
Mickey Thompson tires:
Dick Cepek FC II's
MTZ's
ATZ's
I have had experience with the Dick Cepek FC II's and they are a great all round tire. Great wearing tire, great off-road handling as well great handling on the highways. I usually got around 85,000km to 90,000km wear on the Dick Cepek's. I have a set of the MTZ's on my Dodge Ram and they are also a great tire but they are a little more noisier on the highway than the Dick Cepek's and I only have 10,000 km so the wear I can't tell you about, but they still look like new.
I would stay way from the BFG All-terrain tire as I had a set and they wore out at 55,000km and were terrible in the mud and snow vs the Mickey Thompson tires.
Good Luck!

I would use pro-comp tires, I would use either the all terrain or x terrain types. Both are reasonably priced and get great wear on the street and good all around off road traction

What are the best All Terrain tires for a light 4x4 pick-up?
Jun 29, 2008 by pgiggles | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I currently have BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A tires and I am extremely happy with them, but i was wondering if anything better had come out in the last few years? Maybe with the same off road performance but less road noise or better gas mileage.
I have a '97 Tacoma 4x4 with no lift mostly on road driving with light to moderate off road driving in the summer, and lots of driving in heavy snow in the winter.
I know a few people who think the Bridgestone Dueler is a better tire. Any thoughts on those?
You got the best unless you are wanting to get some thing more aggressive. Then i would go to a Super Swamper my name sake haha. Good luck.
PS They will pull hell off its hinges but they wont last like those BF Goodrich's do on the highway.

the best all terrain tires?

im running 235/70/16s.i want to go to 255(not sure if it will rub)but will probably go to just 245/70/16.anyways,im looking at destination a/t,goodyear wrangler silent armors, dueller a/t revos and the michelin ltx m/s.which of those is the best bang for the buck and performs the best and is reliable.dont want it to wear down quickly either.any help would be great.
i do want performance.thought i said i want one that performs as well.i want good performance but i dont want to pay something like 175 a tire.i dont want just looks.i would like an aggressive looking tire but not if it dont do anything but drive on dry paved road.
Go to the tirerack.com website and read the consumer surveys for All Terrain truck tires. The last time I was on the site, the Dueler A/T Revo was the highest rated. Which of the tires is best is more a matter of opinion than anything else. I have the Michelin LTX M/S on my truck and it is an excellent tire that can last up to 70-80,000 miles. It is not an A/T tire, they have highway/all-season tread.
Best of all is getting off-road — riding or driving an all-terrain vehicle through acres of rough land, the wind whipping by and cooling you even as the sun blazes overhead. The open air and roar of the engine make you feel invincible as you power
