Today marks the 43rd celebration of Earth Day, an annual reminder that we can do more to protect the planet.
Earth Day founder Sen. Gaylord Nelson is rightly considered a pioneer of the modern environmental movement.
So, too, Rachel Carson, whose 1962 best-seller, “Silent Spring,” inspired widespread debate about pesticides.
And if you subscribe to the “think globally, act locally” philosophy, Dolph Spalding was among Spokane’s earliest environmental pioneers.
Thirty-six years before the first Earth Day, Spalding began recycling on a scale that would put most modern environmentalists to shame.
His specialty: cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors … even airplanes.
“You know that saying, ‘I was country before country was cool’?” said Dolph Spalding’s son Max. “We were recycling before recycling was cool.”
The business began in the midst of the Great Depression on two city lots. Today, Spalding Auto Parts covers 50 acres in the Spokane Valley, making it one of the country’s largest independently owned salvage yards.

Best automobile tires to buy?

What are the best longest lasting automobile tires? I bought Goodyear 60,000 mile tires and the tread was gone after about 25,000 miles even though I rotated them and kept them correctly inflated. Is there a difference in brands?
I bought KUMHO tires last year, very good tires, quiet ,great wet/snow traction and so far wearing extreemly well
U should go back 2 the store u bought them & explain what's up w/ those tires; otherwise write 2 the Goodyear manufacturer. I go w/ Pirelli tires.

Goodyear is as good a tire as the rest. If you had a set that went out after just 25k miles, there are other issues other than rotating and tire pressure, such as wheel alignment.
If this be the case, no matter what brand you get, the results will be the same.
Fast stops, jackass starts and fast cornering will all have a bearing on what you can expect from your tires mileage.

Goodyear Eagle Ls2 are the worst
All I know of tires is that they are rated, A, B, C.
Look for an "A" rating. And check Consumer Reports.

What's the best way to blacken out raised white lettering on automobile tires?

Exactly!!..have them remounted so the lettering is on the inside....that way...you are done with that particular problem.

take it to ur local tire shop and have the tires reversed.... the other side will b black wall... cost around 50 buck normal for remount/ balance the 4 tires... good lcuk

There really is no way unless you use a wire brush, but that'll just scuff em up.
Buy non lettered tires next time.

What kind of automobile is best if you are forced to drive on ice? A long big car or a smaller one?
