Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth pleased with repaving job at Michigan International ...

By Eric Hammis
BROOKLYN, MI – Four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon has never really been fond of repaving projects for racecar tracks.
But when the Michigan International Speedway unveiled its new paved racetrack this week, Gordon was one of the first to admit that it was a great upgrade.
“I’m not a big fan of repaves, so the fact that I am talking positive up here and still enjoying this racetrack as much as I always have, I think that’s a sign of where I rank it, which is very high,” Gordon said of the newly paved track.
“The nice thing is that there wasn’t a lot of need to change here. They had such a nice racetrack … so instead of having to go in and re-create some things, they were able to just basically repave over the top of what they had.”
Gordon and fellow NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Matt Kenseth, Juan Pablo Montoya and Michigan native Brad Keselowski were on hand Tuesday and Wednesday to participate in a two-day test for Goodyear tires on the new surface.
3 Reasons To Buy Goodyear Tire While The Stock Is Still Cheap
24.05.12
The stock market has seen exceptional gains in the first few months of 2012. Many investors believe that we will see another correction in the coming months, and they plan to heed the old adage "Sell in May and go away." Last year, investors who sold in May and "went away" on their summer vacations did much better than those who held on to equities as the market saw a sharp correction in mid-2011. With so many investors believing this pattern will repeat this year, there is a good chance that it won't. Whether we see continued market gains or another correction, it probably makes sense to focus on stocks that still offer value and seek out those that have lagged in the recent rally.
Goodyear Tire ( GT ) shares have dropped and now appear to offer considerable value to longer-term investors. Goodyear is the world-famous manufacturer of tires for cars, trucks and aircraft. It also owns other well-known brands such as Dunlop, and the company operates about 1,500 auto service centers. Goodyear has faced challenges that include concerns about pension liabilities, and, like many manufacturers, it experienced some operational disruptions when massive flooding occurred in Thailand a couple of months ago. The pension concerns appear overblown and possibly already priced into the stock. The Thai floods are only going to have a limited short-term impact on the company. That leaves investors with a stock that appears quite undervalued when considering many metrics. Here are three reasons why investors should consider Goodyear now:

try tirerack. They have good prices including shipping. There are businesses in your area that work with Tirerack. Tirerack will ship the tires to that local tire place and that tire place will install the tires on for you/tirerack. Best of luck.

Where is the best place to buy tires?
Feb 19, 2010 by Craig | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I need a new set on a 2002 supercharged 4x4 frontier. What would be my best tire and where should I buy them?
I think buying local is best and less of a hassle especially when it comes time to try and get a warranty honored. Still I bought my last 2 sets of tires on the web. One set at http://www.tirerack.com/ and the other at http://www.TireTeam.com. Their prices with shipping included were both considerable less than http://www.treadepot.com
TireRack.com has loads of reviews by purchasers and can therefore sometimes be helpful in helping you find the right tire. Be sure to add the shipping cost to the price of the tires and then another $15 to $25 per tire for mounting and balancing [sometimes more]. My brother has a tire mounting machine but it won't always work on modern wheels and tires because it is an old machine from the 1960s.

Start by Googling tires and wheels, and then go to Tire Rack.com to get a base price. There are a number of good on-line suppliers that offer free shipping. Also check with your local Costco.

Michelin M/S tires. The M/S stands for mud n' snow. A good 60K mile tire. They are far from cheap though, just warnin' ya. Try NTB. I had good service there once.

I bought a set of tires here:
http://www.treadepot.com/
and was very happy with the price and service. You'll need somewhere to get them mounted, though.
The best thing about it was that they sent me what I asked for. Every local place I went to tried to talk me into a different brand or model. It wasn't worth the hassle. I guess if you don't have a specific tire in mind you could try some place local.

STAY AWAY from the internet tire sales. You can get your local tire and repair shop to match Tire Rack any day if the week. Most places also charge more to mount if you don't buy the tires from them.
I'd have you look at the GENERAL HTS GRABBER at http://www/carolina-tire.com
Tire Kingdom? They are owned by the Japanese conglomerate, Sumitomo. Forget that also..
Buy local, buy from your neighbor, buy from your family owned Carolina Tire & Service Center.

what are the best tires to buy for my 2002 mustang to get ready for a Chicago winter?
Jul 14, 2008 by Kottonmouth | Posted in Ford
i live in chicago and we have horrible winters. i need the best tires to buy to put on my mustang to see if it would make driving better.
I've been driving my Mustangs on Bridgestone Blizzaks for years!!! They are about the best rated and tested snow tires out there. I have a set for my 2004 Mach 1, also had them on my '89 and '97 GTs. You will see a huge difference in the drivability of the car in snow, sleet, ice. Make sure you put them on all 4 corners. And yes, keep traction control on it also helps. If I don't have them on when a little bit of snow hits I'll know it. Put the blizzaks on and I'll start moving, and be going through multiple inches of snow as well as a front wheel drive car usually. Just be easy on the gas pedal. ;)

Well you would need a good set of snow tires and some weight in your trunk. As far as the tires I would use Blizzaks for all 4 tires. And for weight use about 3 or 4, 75lb sandbags in the trunk. Then you will be better prepared for winter.

What are the best tires to buy for a 93' Honda Accord?
Dec 29, 2008 by Rae | Posted in Honda
Im looking to replace all 4 tires, I never bought tires before. Does anyone have any suggestions for me???
Only Serious Answers please??
Depending on which model of Accord you have you could have either a
P185/70R14 or a P195/60R15 tire size.
either way Kumho makes the Solus KR21 which is their high mileage touring tire.
Michelin makes the Harmony which is one of their high mileage touring tires.
Between the two tires Kumho is the better value.

I didn't think of it then but 17" tires are cheaper than 18" tires. Granted while it might just be justifying my decision to buy a base the S didn't feel that much more special to me. Certainly not $7K or $8K more special.
