Best deals on car tires?
Oct 09, 2010 by Boston413 | Posted in Buying & Selling
I need to get tires soon and I wanted to know who has the best deals on tires. I am looking to get 4 tires for $200-300. I need them to work in snow and rain because I live in New England. Any suggestions?
I buy my tires through Sears..they have several brands, will be able to hit your price range...buy the road hazard warranty...
you can also order tires from tirerack, and they will ship them to a local tire store for mounting,
if you have a warranty issue, you have to deal with tirerack....
at sears you can go to any store....

Do you want good tires? Double your budget or buy used.
Maybe you can find good tires in that range if you own a Geo Metro with 13" wheels...

that price is great if you are going to buy 13 or 14 inch tires. If you are going to buy anything larger you will most likely have to add some more money. There are plenty of brands that are good out there. Every major name brand makes what is called house brands, store brands or off brands, for example: Cooper tire makes Mastercraft, Eldorado and Dean but they also make tires for stores like Pep Boys those are the Dakota , Cornell and Futura. So you can get the same tire at a lower price. www.gotwheels.net will tell you who makes what for who. Companies like tire have a lower than a local retail store may have but therer is shipping and that will make the price either equal or higher. A rule of thumb for tires is average about 70 to 80 dollars per tire for passenger and average 20 dollars each for mounting and balancing.

2004 Nissan Xterra? Live in so cal. Any suggestions?
If you have a Pep Boys close by, they usually have a reasonably good price on tires and I've been using them for years. Stay away from the Firestone or Goodyear stores. Nothing against their tires, they do have a good product, it's just that they're way overpriced for what you get. You can get a tire at Pep Boys that'll go 40K-60K or more, with proper maintenance, for a heck of a lot less that the big name chain stores.

I have a 2002 Ford Ranger with 44,000 miles on BF Goodrich tires and it's time to get new tires. Is that a good brand and if so, where should I purchase them and have them installed?
Costco has good prices on bf Goodrich and Michelin

Discount usually has great prices, and you can haggle with them. They also can give you a good idea of what tires you should buy as they have many, MANY brands.

Best Price Search for new Tires!!!! HELP ME !?
Aug 26, 2010 by azviolet2003 | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I have gotten a migraine looking online for the best tire deal! WANT the lowest price tires without sacrificing safety of course, but I just cannot afford $600-$700 for tires right now! It's time, tho. Tire tread is just at the top of Lincoln's head. Damn him.
BEST ANSWER will go to the person who finds me the BEST DEAL on 4 tires. Here are the details:
2007 Ford Mustang Coupe-Pony Package, 235/55/17 OEM tires. Zip code 85338, Goodyear Arizona.
Have Pirellis (love them), but will change brand to save $.
If I can go to a 225 instead of 235 to save $, will do that also.
Thanks in advance for your reseach and assistance!!
Go to tirerack.com and look at what others are putting on their cars like yours...or you can call them and speak to someone and they will recommend what you specify here. You can also read reviews for the tires there and then make the best informed decision. In my experience I have called the dealer after getting a recommendation from tirerack to see if they will price match...then deduct $25 off the price of each tire and call your local discount tire store (tires.com) and see if they will then beat that price. As William Shatner says in his priceline commercials..its all in the "art of the deal"..Good Luck.
