Michael Jordan Motorsports Riders Bostrom and Hayden Top the Charts

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (March 21, 2012) – AMA Pro Road Racing conducted an official test at Homestead-Miami Speedway this week which gave more than 50 riders an important opportunity to prepare their motorcycles in advance of the Big Kahuna Miami, scheduled for September 21-23, 2012. With many of AMA Pro’s top teams in attendance, riders and crews went to work perfecting their racecraft on a track that hasn’t been on AMA Pro Road Racing’s calendar since 1996. Setting the bar high, the Michael Jordan Motorsports team left nothing on the table in the final day of on-track activity. The team’s AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike riders Ben Bostrom and Roger Hayden posted impressive lap times in the final session that locked them in at the top of the charts.
Bostrom, who pilots the team’s No. 23 Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000, posted successively faster lap times over the course of the two-day test before ripping off a final session flyer with a time of 1:21.445 around the Speedway’s 2.21-mile motorcycle road course. The former National Guard SuperBike champ is one of the few riders in the Series with experience at the South Florida venue, having won the AMA SuperTwins race 16 years ago in AMA Pro’s inaugural race at the venue.
Kenworth Adds Bendix CVS SmarTire Tire Pressure Monitoring System as Option ...
24.05.12
The SmarTire technology monitors the pressure and temperature of each
tire on a commercial vehicle to provide real-time tire status
information to the driver. The technology is designed to warn the driver
of tire-related problems, such as low pressure and high temperatures,
before they become serious issues. The system reads pressure and
temperature information from inside the tire and communicates wirelessly
to an on-board receiver.
“With so much riding on their truck tires, fleets are finding that they
need to be more proactive in addressing tire inflation issues,” said
Erik Johnson, Kenworth on-highway marketing manager. “By equipping their
trucks with the SmarTire Tire Pressure Monitoring System, truck and
fleet operators can help avoid fuel mileage penalties, large bills for
roadside assistance and penalties during roadside inspections. They can
also gain more tire life, and reduce expenses that for many truck
operators are second only to fuel costs.”

What are the best tires for city riding on a GSX-R 600 K7?

Continental Road Attacks are a great tire if you don't need ultimate cornering grip. The only time they show they are a totally street oriented tire is when they are taken out of their element and used on the track. Even then, I know someone who used them for a track day in the novice class and got their knee down and never found traction to be a problem. Plus, you can usually get 10,000 or more miles out of a rear and half again more from a front.
That, and they're not that much more expensive than the cheap stuff like Cheng Shins.
If you aren't grinding pegs, and your old tires have any sort of chicken strip on them at all, you will love the Road Attacks.
I got mine from Dennis Kirk, and had them mounted at a local shop. I think I had $350 into the set by the time they were up and running. They are the best street tire I have used yet.

What are the best tires for motorcycles?

I have a GSXR 750 and the tires are getting pretty worn. I was wondering in opinion or in fact, who carries the best tires for a sport bike/crotch rocket? Michellin? Firestone? Anything?
These tires are the only thing touvhing the ground when im riding, so i want the best i can get.
All of the major brands are good.Dunlop,Metzeler,Michellin and Avon all make very good tires. It depends on your riding needs. The sticker the tire the softer the compound.Touring tires have harder compounds to wear longer. Then even have tires with a harder compound center strip and softer stickier sidewalls.JP cycles has a good tire selection that you can look at to help you decide. It's smart of you to want the best as opposed to the cheapest.Like you say those two little contact patches are all there is between you and the road.

It really depends on your style of riding.. There are different tread compound's for various style's of riding n as well as track only tire's which are really sticky. Ive been real pleased with the Michelin Pilot Road 2ct which is good for the twisty's but yet durable enough for every day use..

I just stick with the brand of tires that my bike came with, since I don't have any complaints with them. I know they work.

i like dunlup. but it all goes into what u like and how you ride.

I have been buying Continental Road Attacks for my street bikes. They wear a long time and they have enough grip to grind the foot pegs on my Cyclone. That's enough grip for me, and they tend to last 10,000 miles or more which is 3 times longer than the sport rubber that most people don't need for street riding. If you are really aggressive or do track days, then Sport Attacks are the better tire, but most people realistically have no use for the extra grip.
I currently have a set of Dunlop Qualifiers on my GSXR. I thought they would be worth a try, but I'm not impressed and I'm going back to Contis after they get used up.

You have just invoked the "dreaded tyre thread" a question that will get you booted from almost every motorcycle board on the internet. You'll have to do your research based on your style of riding and budget. The only thig I can offer is that "you get what you pay for" applies. Also even the finest tires are worthless if not mounted and balanced properly.

I have tried countless tires over the years and have been happiest with the Michelin Pilot Series. Currently the best is the Power 2CT, get that and you will never regret the choice. Dunlope has a new 2 compound Qualifier tire that a few guys I know are currently running and they are telling me it's right on par with the Powers but I have yet to try them and most likely will not try them because the Powers have been so good.

So for my man's birthday I wanted to get him new tires for his motorcycle. He will really start riding it alot here soon and I know NOTHING about motorcycles or their parts and pieces. Please tell me....for those of you who are into them. If you had this type of bike, what would be the best tires to get someone for it? Cost is not really an issue, just looking for the best set. Please help and don't make fun of the chick, hahah,
I used to ride on those qualifiers but they wear down too quick for me.
I'm on my second season with the Pirelli Diablo Rosso tires. I like them pretty well. Got them on sale at Cycle Gear.
