I've tried using silicone and then using a screw, but I didn't like the screw in there because it looks crappy and I take alot of pride in my truck and the way it looks. I'm trying to fix it myself without having to buy a whole new set, so anyone who has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You for your help.
i actually work at a truck accesorie shop and what we do in that situation is take the old ones off and replace them with new ones the maker of them will replace them for free if they are faulty so if you took it somewhere to get them youshould take it back there and tell them

Try getting a hold of the manufacturer of your rail caps.They will probably send you new adhesive for free or will certainly advise on what you should do.
If you don't know who made them, contact any manufacturer of bed rail caps and lie a little bit and tell them you have their brand.They all go on pretty much the same.

I would like to do this without drilling, I was told I can use the two sided scotch attachment tape. how well does this hold and how much do I use I don"t want to over do it , at the same time I heard its a sob to get off, and if I had to take them off will it wreck the paint ?
to remove any kind of adhesive use wd-40 and an old rag. It's an old blue collar trick.

certainly.the inside edge that drops in side the bed is best place to put some screws lock washers and 1or2 nutz . stove bolts have the rounded head and will fit smooth .pretest fit the tape using small to tiny pieces for hight reference off the paint.and removeal is a sob.better than some one cashing it in at the local scrap yard.

Mr. KnowItAll suggested the best thing. It's made of synthetic material so it won't rot and the adhesive is just about right to hold without causing a big mess when you remove it.
I'd wax the rails good before I put the tape on - that way it'll protect it till you remove the tape.
No, the wax will not prevent the tape from sticking.

i've looked everywhere and i cant find any bed rail caps for my 1992 ford ranger regular bed. are the 1993 truck beds longer or shorter than the 1992's or would bed rail caps made for 1993 beds fit on my 92? if they are longer i guess i could always trim a bit off.
